The Cullen Cardiovascular Research Laboratories are specifically designed to support state-of-the-art cardiovascular research. Our 20,000 square-foot facility has the capability to support a wide variety of experiments. The laboratories are well-suited for device implantation, operative and postoperative care of large and small animals, and the evaluation of device performance.

The facilities include

  • Large, fully equipped operating suites
  • Intensive care units
  • Long-term monitoring units
  • Large and small animal housing
  • Necropsy/gross pathology laboratories
  • Histopathology laboratories
  • Vascular cell biology laboratories
  • Engineering/in vitro testing laboratories
  • Specialized equipment and procedural capabilities, including
    • Cinefluoroscopy
    • Cardiopulmonary bypass/perfusion systems
    • Echocardiography/acoustic analysis
    • Laser systems
    • Digital-scanning electron microscopes
    • IBAS image-analysis system
